When designing a case insert for a particularly heavy item there are some key things to consider to ensure your design’s longevity. With the help of Steve Chandler we’ve created a quick guide to give you the key pointers.

High density foam:
Can withstand the weight of the item.

Center of gravity:
Keep the center of gravity low by placing the heaviest part close to the wheels.

Room for grip:
Allow for enough room for a good grip under the item when lifting in and out of the case. The heavier the item, the bigger the space needed.

3mm sheet of polypropylene plastic:
Helps spread the load on the foam and reinforces the pockets to increase the longevity of the foam insert.

Wheels and extra handles:
Wheels and extra handles are a must for any heavy items. Items over 40kg will need enough handles for a two man lift.
